Air Fryer Crispy Brussels Sprouts

November 24, 2021

I shied away from the air fryer for the first year of its popularity, because I generally loathe to add appliances we don’t need, and I wasn’t convinced I “needed” an air fryer.

Had someone fed me these air fryer Brussels sprouts, I would have jumped on the bandwagon IMMEDIATELY!

Air fryer Brussels sprouts are F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C-A-L-L-Y crispy. Beyond crisp!

Brussels sprouts are an excellent source of protein, and just 88 grams (g), or 1 cup, of raw Brussels sprouts meets the RDI requirements for both vitamin C and vitamin K.

Brussels sprouts are part of the cruciferous vegetable family. Vegetables in this family provide a wide variety of nutrients and contain few calories. 1 cup of cruciferous vegetables daily has been shown to improve liver detoxification pathways and improve the growth of healthy microbiome.

  • 500g Brussel Sprouts, ends chopped & halved from the end (length ways)
  • 2 tbsp. Olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp. Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. Maple syrup (optional)

  • Place sprouts in the basket, drizzle with 1 tbsp. olive oil & sprinkle with the salt. Cook for 15 minutes, shake the the basket half way through.
  • Sprinkle sprouts with garlic, toss & cook for another 2mins.
  • Meanwhile add the balsamic vinegar & maple syrup to a small pan and simmer on low until syrup like, be sure to stir while simmering to avoid burning. Then add the lime juice, soy & another Tbsp. Olive oil (could try sesame too PS!)
  • Remove sprouts from basket into a bowel and pour over hot sticky delicious sauce.

Serves 3-4 as side or 1 person who is obsessed ... Me! x
