Memoirs of an air fryer: A fail-proof guide to the best-baked potato.

April 05, 2022

First, here's your basic 'how to', guide. Next up, is a little background on why potatoes shouldn't be feared or labeled as 'bad' food. I assure you, when eaten the right way, they are the exact opposite.

'How To'

Chop potatoes into 3cm cubes. Wash and pat dry. Place in the freezer for 15 to dry them out (this is the key to crispness)

In a bowl, toss potatoes with a drizzle of oil (no more than 1 tbsp), garlic powder (1tsp.), Italian seasoning or Cajun seasoning (to taste). Season well with salt and pepper.

Preheat the air fryer to 200 for 5 mins

Place potatoes in the air fryer basket and cook at 200° for 10 minutes.

Shake basket, stir potatoes, and cook until the potatoes are golden and tender, 8 to 10 minutes more.

Optional: Squeeze lemon juice over cooked potatoes and garnish with parsley before serving.

On the emotional or fear side xx

If your tummy and taste buds are saying yes but your mind is telling you ‘no,’ or labeling tatoes as ‘naughty’ or ‘bad’ .. this little tip might help you out.

Have no fear; potatoes are not just a calorie, they are a food source with a LONG LIST of health benefits, and despite what you may have read, they are not a food that will cause weight gain; instead, they are a food that will help with long term healthy weight management when eaten the right way. And for many, they are, in fact, weight-loss tools.

Here’s a (very) short list of why

  • Contain antioxidants. Potatoes are rich in compounds like flavonoids, carotenoids, and phenolic acids
  • Support balance of blood sugar, cholesterol, and toxin clearance
  • Support Digestive Health by feeding and growing good bacteria and forming regular, more significant, softer stools
  • Incredibly filling and satisfying
  • Provide ample physical and mental energy
